Senior Accountant

Role Overview:

We’re seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and collaborates effectively across teams.

You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing financial processes at a detailed, operational level, while also supporting the Head of Finance on broader strategic initiatives. The role offers exposure to international expansion activities and requires a proactive, hands-on approach combined with strong commercial awareness.

As the business continues to grow, there is potential for this role to evolve into a Financial Manager position based on performance and organisational needs. Uncompromising integrity and ethical conduct are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyse financial data and prepare insightful reports to support decision-making.
  • Manage the year-end audit process, including audit file preparation and query resolution.
  • Take ownership of the full debtors function, including collections and stakeholder engagement.
  • Account for non-routine and complex transactions in line with IFRS for SMEs.
  • Detailed monthly stock movement and variance analysis.
  • Review monthly VAT reports.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate asset recognition in compliance with IFRS for SMEs
  • Review and validate multi-currency payment batches for accuracy and compliance with SARB reporting requirements.
  • Drive cost management initiatives, identifying efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Partner with the Accountant to enhance and streamline daily financial processes.
  • Assist with ad hoc company secretarial, global expansion and regulatory compliance requirements.

Role Requirements:

  • BCom Honours in Accounting / PGDA (non-negotiable)
  • CA(SA) qualification (preferred)
  • 2–3 years’ post-articles experience in a commercial or fast-paced environment (experience in manufacturing advantageous)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IFRS for SMEs to complex and non-routine transactions
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and efficiencies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to perform under pressure
  • Proactive, solutions-driven mindset with strong ownership and accountability
  • Willingness to engage in hands-on, detail-oriented tasks, including transactional processing, to support the team where required
