Job Summary

The Specialist Buyer is responsible for the end-to-end procurement of high-reliability electronic and mechanical components, raw materials, and specialised services critical to CSs ADCS products.

This role plays a key part in enabling CS’s international growth by ensuring a resilient, responsive, and compliant supply chain capable of supporting increasing production volumes and global customer demands.

Operating within an ISO9001 / AS9100-aligned environment, the Specialist Buyer owns procurement execution, expediting, and progress reporting, while actively contributing to supplier development, obsolescence management, and continuous improvement of supply chain performance.

The role requires balancing structured, disciplined processes with the agility needed to respond to evolving customer requirements and a rapidly changing global market.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Procurement Ownership

  • Manage the full RFQ and PO lifecycle for electronic and mechanical commodities
  • Source, evaluate, and onboard global suppliers aligned to CS’s technical, quality, and commercial requirements
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contractual terms to ensure competitiveness and sustainability
  • Maintain accurate procurement data, including lead times, pricing, and supplier constraints

2. Expediting & Supply Chain Visibility

  • Take full ownership of expediting all open orders to meet production and delivery commitments
  • Proactively identify risks to supply and implement mitigation plans
  • Provide clear, structured progress reporting to internal stakeholders
  • Manage order changes (pull-ins, push-outs, cancellations) in line with dynamic production and customer requirements

3. Supplier Management in a Global Context

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with specialised international suppliers
  • Monitor and drive supplier performance (On-Time Delivery, Quality, Responsiveness)
  • Support supplier development and localisation strategies aligned with CubeSpace’s international expansion
  • Resolve supplier-related issues efficiently while maintaining long-term partnerships

4. Technical Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all procured items meet stringent aerospace and space-grade requirements
  • Maintain compliance with ISO9001 / AS9100 quality systems
  • Ensure all materials are delivered with required certifications (CoCs, test reports, traceability documentation)
  • Support full lot traceability from procurement through to production

5. Import/Export & Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage procurement activities in compliance with international trade regulations
  • Ensure adherence to ITAR and EAR requirements where applicable
  • Maintain accurate documentation, Incoterms, and shipping compliance for global transactions

6. Integrated Material Readiness & Production Support

  • Collaborate closely with planning, engineering, and production teams to ensure material availability
  • Manage long-lead and critical components to support production continuity
  • Actively support New Product Introduction (NPI) through supplier engagement, quoting, and lead time definition
  • Contribute to a supply chain that enables scalable and predictable production output

7. Cost & Commercial Management

  • Monitor Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and drive cost optimisation initiatives
  • Support affordability objectives in an increasingly competitive and commoditising market
  • Negotiate strategic agreements to improve cost, availability, and supply security

8. Obsolescence & Lifecycle Management

  • Monitor lifecycle risks for electronic and specialised components
  • Proactively manage obsolescence through mitigation strategies (e.g., last-time buys, alternates, redesign support)
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure long-term product sustainability

9. Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain high data integrity within ERP systems (e.g., Odoo or equivalent)
  • Contribute to the evolution of scalable procurement processes and systems
  • Support the development of a structured yet flexible operating model that enables growth
  • Empower effective decision-making through accurate data and clear visibility

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business preferred, but not critical.  (Experience and relevance compensates for a formal qualification)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Buyer in defence, aerospace, aviation, or similar high-reliability industries
  • Proven experience procuring electronic and mechanical commodities (PCB/A, components, harnesses, precision and high tolerance mechanical parts)
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 environments
  • Experience with ITAR and/or EAR controlled equipment and processes
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management capability
  • Experience working with specialised and sole-source suppliers
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably Odoo or similar)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in complex technical environments
